Ways to Enhance Your Jewellery Collection, Antique Style
February 1, 2012 by admin · Leave a Comment
Shopping for jewellery is addicting, especially when you can turn your fragile finds into family heirlooms. Antique rings, earrings, and necklaces are smart investments. They are also practical; antique jewellery can be worn on special occasions and formal events, making them coveted additions to your jewellery collection. Here are a few ways you can enhance your jewellery collection with rare antique pieces.
Go the right places: Collecting antique jewellery means more than finding old rings and necklaces. It is about finding high-quality precious stones, designs, and motifs you won’t find at contemporary jewellery stores. It’s about finding a rare treasure and investing in it. It’s about the hunt as well the treasure. Look for estate jewellery, which simply means jewellery purchased at estate sales.
It is also important to look for authentic antique shops, not just second hand stores. You want to know the history behind the product, and information about the appraisal.
Create your own sets: One of the most rewarding aspects of collecting vintage jewellery is building your own sets. Creating your own set of earrings, a necklace, and a ring, for example, gives you the power to be selective with each purchase, as opposed to buying three items at once simply because they come in the same set. This method also gives you the opportunity to be creative and express your own taste and style. Finally, creating your own set imparts value to your collection, especially if you’re becoming a well-known collector.

Gold coins have always been a fascination to men. While gold is a much coveted precious metal in its raw form, minted gold coins hold more fascination because of their rarity. A gold coin will be priced much more than a piece of gold of the same weight. Minting gold coins is an art and some gold coins are very beautiful for example the Australian dragons. Keeping gold in stock has always been a good way to store value. Gold rarely depreciates. Gold is a sure saving method as gold will never be scrapped like a paper currency. The value is always assured.
Collecting gold coins with a high coin value is a great way to store gold. Unlike raw gold whose value is determined by the world market, gold coin value depends on subjective assessment. If a collector badly needs a certain coin, he will offer more for it. Stocking rare gold coins could be several times more profitable than having raw gold of the same weight.
With the current rising in value of gold, gold coins will also rise in value significantly. This will even be more so for coins having high gold content or those that are very rare. Any coin dealer will tell you keeping a stock of these coins are better than savings in equity. Their value is sure to rise sometimes by a very good margin. You can never go wrong with savings in gold more so gold coins. These beautiful works of art are riches that every man covets to have.
Handmade Green Jewelry

Handmade jewelry often emphasizes the character of the wearer in ways that mass-produced jewelry simply cannot. Silver jewelry might exemplify a sense of sophistication and class, for example, while green jewelry might suggest a degree of intellect. Handmade jewelry isn’t just decorative; it is crafted as art, something intended to convey a number of possible meanings and relationships. Materials range from metal to sea glass, gold to leather, silver to wood, and the design possibilities are just as extensive.
Also, artisan handcrafted jewelry is usually much more eco-friendly than mass-produced jewelry. The artists aim for far trade with the people from whose regions they collect their materials, and often these materials reflect some aspect of that region. Handmade jewelry often employs discarded materials or byproducts of other projects eliminating waste and demonstrating the intrinsic value of even the most innocuous materials. These artists often work with or are members of the Fair Trade Federation the World Fair Trade Organization.
Artists of handmade jewelry often use elements of other cultures and worldviews in their work, like this handmade karma necklace. “What goes around, comes around,” reads the inscription, a reminder to both the wearer and anyone else that the repercussions of our actions will eventually circle round to us. This kind of self-awareness is rare in mass-produced jewelry, but it is an integral element of most artisan jewelry. Browse our wide selection and find a piece that speaks to your character. Let people know who you truly are.
Tips On Assessing The Value Of A Precious Coin
January 13, 2012 by publisher · Leave a Comment
A precious coin is one that is very limited and usually made of a precious metal. Gold, silver, platinum and palladium coins are the metals that make precious coins. Gold coins are especially sought after as gold has been a medium of exchange since time immemorial. This means one can get rare gold coins that date back to the times of ancient Greeks. These of course are extremely rare and ask for thousands of dollars or hundreds of thousands.
The value of a precious coin is mostly dependent on its rarity. While precious metals have been around since the earth’s making, the art of minting coins is just a few thousands years old. Coins that date back to the era BC fetch high prices because they are very rare but not they are made of precious metals. A rare silver coin will also be of more value than a gold coin that can be easily found.
Another way of assessing the value of precious coins is by the amount of precious metal in it by weight. Some gold coins are pure 24 karat content while some are only 18 karat in content. This will make the former pricier. This will apply to other precious metals too. A Morgan silver dollar for example has 0.77 troy ounces of silver in it. This makes it more valuable than silver coins of lesser weight in silver may they be a few years ahead in minting. The weight of a precious coin is valuable as the metal can always be recovered.
Tips On Wearing Artisan Jewelry

Artisan jewelry looks very unique, personalized and always gives a fresh look. Wearing this jewelry makes one stand out from the crowd. This jewelry is usually found after a careful search if you are looking for something truly beautiful and unique. Artisan jewelry is carefully crafted most of the time, by hand which makes it truly wonderful. Wearing it gives you a feeling of having something that speaks volumes about your personality. This kind of jewelry will complement all kinds of attire if carefully selected.
When choosing the kind of jewelry to wear for example, handcrafted earrings, be careful in the color. As jewelry accessorizes the attire that one is in, the right color does wonders for the whole look. Some colors go with any attire. Sliver for example can be worn with any other color. Gold too goes along with many other colors. Bright colors are better worn against a dark background. Reo earrings for example will go very well with black attire. The reverse is true. Black earrings for example will match a white dress very well.
The occasion that the jewelry is to be worn for is another consideration. Handcrafted jewelry rings for example tat are too loud are not appropriate for formal settings. They can however, be very appropriate for a party mood. The choice of jewelry on a person speaks volumes about them. If not well made, even beautiful jewelry can be interpreted in a wrong way. The right jewelry for the right occasion is always a great match.

The Value of Gold Coins, Bars and Eggs
December 11, 2011 by publisher · Leave a Comment
What exactly did Jack find at the top of the beanstalk? If I remember correctly, there was a goose that laid golden eggs and a singing harp, but was there anything else in the way of treasure up there? It seems likely that there must have been a treasure room in the giant’s castle with all sorts of things inside made of precious metals every kind. I’m sure there must have been a goldbar or two lying around, but maybe they were too heavy for Jack to carry.
There were probably heaps and heaps of coins laying around or overflowing from chests , but jack might not want those, unless he they were made of gold or silver he could not be sure of the coinvalue of some strange piece of currency minted in the clouds. So jack probably ignored the coins as well, after all, even if they were gold or silver, the goose was much lighter, and with the goose he could fill up his shack with golden eggs.
But what would Jack do with the golden eggs? Would he just take them to market and tray to use them to buy things? Surely people’s curiosity would be roused by golden eggs, and it wouldn’t wouldn’t do to let people know that he had a goose that laid golden eggs. Jack would have to develop some method of turning the eggs into goldcoins if was going to spend them without arousing unwanted suspicion from neighbors.
